The Cirque du Soleil Dralion Experience!

For the second time in the show’s history, Cirque du Soleil made its way to Birmingham, Alabama to première their production of Dralion. Cirque du Soleil Dralion blends Eastern & Western cultures combining the dragon for the East and the lion for the West. With three main cultures represented — Chinese, Indian, and African, Cirque du Soleil Dralion bridges the gap between humans (man) & nature.

Vibrant hues of blue, green, ochre and red symbolize air, water, fire, and earth while the performers become ornate characters and whimsical creatures. A key contributor to the uniqueness of Cirque du Soleil Dralion, the characters play suggestive roles of animals. Unlike the traditional circus, Cirque du Soleil Dralion does not have any live animals.

Cirque du Soleil Dralion consists of spectacular acrobatics, diverse & elaborate storylines, intricate costumes, and record quality live music. With a 60 feet wide and 26 feet tall metallic structure, the huge backdrop dominates the stage and is suggestive of a futuristic Chinese temple or a giant plate of medieval armor.

One of the most compelling features of the set is the perforated aluminum tiled wall which spans the full length of the stage. Primarily used in the Trampoline act, the wall is strong and resilient while giving impressions of being light and flexible.

This uniquely artistic circus will definitely stroke the imagination and create a connection with the audience. Cirque du Soleil allows the viewer to step out of reality and into the world of Dralion. Suitable for all ages Cirque du Soleil brings a whimsical experience to the circus.
