The Heights Village Halloween Hustle is a 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk event benefiting the Autism Society of Alabama, a nonprofit working for the betterment of Alabama families with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The race begins and ends at the Heights Village shopping center, a lifestyle retail shopping center that is home to such national tenants as Starbucks and Regions Bank as well as a variety of popular stores/franchises, boutiques, fresh markets and eateries, and will carry runners through the popular Cahaba Heights neighborhood of Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Race participants and spectators are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and compete in adult and children’s costume contests.

Immediately following the run, awards and door prizes will be presented to the top male and female finishers in seven age categories and winners of the adult and children’s costume contests. The shops of Heights Village will provide fun for the whole family during and after the run to include children’s activities and special store promotions.

T-shirts will be provided to the first 200 registrants of the race who register (first come, first serve; while supplies last).

Race sponsors include Fleet Feet Sports of Birmingham, Tutoring Club, ICON Performance of Cahaba Heights, Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce, Pedorthic Care, Black Design Architecture, Service Experts Heating & Air, Cahaba Cycles, Metropolitan Properties, Inc., Regions Bank, Sexton’s Seafood, Clutter Prescription by The Amandas, Little Soles, The Lili Pad, Gigi’s, Serendipity, Manhattan South, Flowerbuds, Cummings Jewelry Design & Repair, NY Butcher Shoppe, Learning Express Toys and Walgreens.

Pre-registration is STRONGLY encouraged. Online registration through active.com ends Thursday night (10/11/12) at midnight. After Thursday, October 11, registration will not be available through Active.com; however, runners and walkers can still register for the Race by downloading and printing the registration form available on this page, or by calling or coming by the Metropolitan Properties, Inc. offices in person, which are llocated within Heights Village at 3162 Heights Village, Vestavia Hills, AL 35243, or by calling their offices at (205) 969-3108. Race-day registration will also be available until 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 13. $25 registration fee ($35 race day) includes your t-shirt and, most importantly, helps support the Autism Society of Alabama.

Race Day Registration:
Printed registration forms will be available for anyone who shows up to register on the morning of the Race UNTIL 7:30 a.m. CASH OR CHECK ONLY!

Event schedule and times – RACE BIB/PACKET PICK-UP:

Thursday, October 11 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. or Friday, October 12 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Metropolitan Properties, Inc. in Heights Village shopping center (3162 Heights Village, Vestavia Hills, AL 35243).

NOTE: There will be no bib/packet pick-up on morning of race for those who pre-registered on Active.com.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE:
6:30-7:30 a.m. – Walk up registration
7:40 a.m. – Warm up led by ICON Performance and Tommy Tutor of Tutoring Club
8:00 a.m. – Race start (Tommy Tutor fires the air gun to start race)
8:30-9:30 a.m. – Children’s Boo-fet Breakfast benefiting the Autism Society of Alabama ($2 donation per child is suggested). Tommy Tutor, princess and pirate characters will make an appearance at the breakfast.
9:30 a.m. – Race course closes
9:30-11:30 a.m. – Children’s meet-and-greet with princess and pirate characters.
9:45 a.m. – Awards ceremony and presentation of medals
10:00 a.m. – Costume contest (adults and children)
10:00 a.m.- Late afternoon/evening — shops and restaurants at Heights Village welcome Halloween Hustle participants and spectators. NOTE: Some Heights Village restaurants and stores will be opening prior to 10:00 a.m.
11:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. – Wine tasting at New York Butcher Shoppe
