A NIGHT OF UNITY: Real Life Poets Fundraiser & Silent Auction

On October 15, 2011 Real Life Poets, Inc. will present its 1st Annual “A Night Of Unity” Fundraiser celebrating cultural diversity through the arts, hosted by WBRC Fox6 News Reporter Melanie Posey. This family friendly event will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 7:00pm until 10:00pm at the Grodner Group, located at 2255 Highland Ave S, Birmingham, Alabama 35205. An array of artistry will be highlighted including, spoken word, live painting, culinary, music, and media as an ethnic mosaic of artists, both youth and adult, take the stage. Featurerd Artist will be the Legendary Sunni Patterson. Also plan to enjoy a culturally diverse food tasting, henna body art and a silent auction. The fundraiser will follow a free poetry workshop at the 3rd Annual Collard Green Cook-off presented by Urban Minisrty’s West End Community Garden, 1229 Cotton Ave Birmingham, Alabama 35211. The Cook-Off is a free community event open to the public from 12:00noon until 5:00pm.

Silent auction will begin online at www.32auctions.com/organizations/2137/auctions/2331 and end live at the event. 35 Years and Ramsay Rams Remain Undefeated

Ramsay Rams are you Ready –a familiar chant Ramsay students, parents, teachers, and alumni finally got the chance to cheer, after waiting 35 years for a Ramsay football team to grace the field again. On September 19, 2011, the Ramsay High School junior varsity team took the field for the first time since 1976. Wearing Royal Blue Uniforms with white numbers, Ramsay’s JV squad defeated the Bessemer City tigers 18-16.

Birmingham native & Fresh Ground Comedy alum Comedian/Entertainer The SUPERKING will headline his annual SUPERKING Live !!! 2011 edition comedy show themed ” WE’RE TAKING OVER” Friday October 7,2011 at The Red Cat Coffee House located behind southside’s Pepperplace (2901 2nd Ave S) . The show will feature several area comedians on the bill including Comedians Terrence G (a regular Stardome host,and former Evening On The Moon finalist who has opened numerous times for the likes of Steve Harvey),G. Quinney (another Stardome regular performer) Terry Tee (2 x winner of Stardome’s Open Mic Challenge),newcomer Mario Carreras,& hosted by Improv actor/comedian Christopher Davis (View of the City host,Fresh Ground Comedy Host).
The Red Cat Coffee House typically a venue for music on weekends & does host the monthly Fresh Ground Comedy Showcase is one of the areas finest establishments for great coffee,food,wine &live entertainment.
