Try Sorbet Instead of Ice Cream
The other day I found myself wanting something sweet and cold to eat as a dessert. I’m not a huge fan of ice cream, but I loved the idea of sorbet. I’ve never made sorbet a day in my life, so immediately I searched Youtube only to find recipes that required an ice cream maker. After minutes of frantic searching I finally came across one video that was a cheat to making sorbet with no ice cream maker! With the techniques provided in the video I came up with this awesome recipe! My mixed berry sorbet came out perfect and now I am excited to explore different flavors.
What you will need!
2 Cups Frozen Fruit (I used Mixed Berry blend: raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, blueberry)
1.5 Cups Yogurt (I used Low Fat Strawberry Yogurt)
1tbs Turbinado Sugar
5oz Cold water
Blender
The Recipe
In a blender combine 2 cups of your favorite fruit with the yogurt, sugar, and half of the water. Power your blender to pulse and add the rest of the water as needed to chop the fruit. After the mixture is blended well serve as is or for a thicker consistency place into a container and pop in the freezer for about 1 hour. This is the perfect healthy alternative to a bowl of ice cream. Not to mention a great way to get your daily dose of fruit!
Tips&Tricks
If your going to use the mixed berry frozen fruit blend I used its important to know there will be seeds from the raspberries and the blackberries. A healthier alternative is to use plain Greek yogurt instead of the low-fat flavored yogurt. I used what I had in the fridge at the moment. Also be sure not to over process your mixture you want to blend only until everything is chopped. If you over process your mixture you will have a wonderful tasting smoothie! Cheers! If your 21 or older you could add a few ounces of your favorite vodka and serve in shooter glasses for party guest. If you decide to add vodka you should either increase fruit or decrease water! I hope you guys enjoy this wonderful recipe and let me know how your sorbet turns out!
I love sorbet, and this looks delicious.
