Home Stretch

Okay AUBURN FANS, now that I’ve gotten your attention with my last article, I would like to honestly say that the Tigers are really on a roll. I can honestly say that Auburn has definitely been dominating their opponents this season, their great success is due largely to the talent of their All-American Quarterback, and possible Heisman hopeful, Cam Newton. Thanks to Newton, the Tigers have shown several glimpses of greatness, and with the season almost at an end, they can’t afford any mistakes. The constant inconsistencies in the team’s , and not Newton’s, performance  could end up being the Tiger’s  biggest downfall if they aren’t corrected.

The Tigers’ defense is constantly allowing too many points to be scored, which is putting added pressure on the offense. This raises the question: How long can the offense keep up the pace of saving the defense while trying to provide a strong backup to Newton? The defense is the only apparent weakness that the Tigers currently have. Despite having a crippling defense, there is hope for the Tigers to remain at the top, and no, I’m not going to make another  Newton reference. Freshman running back Micheal Dryer is a budding young star on the Tiger’s defense. With 723 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns this season, Dyer is a powerful tool for the Tigers. Once Gene Chizik places more plays and players around Dyer’s talent, Auburn’s future will shine even brighter.

With the current season entering the home stretch, the Auburn Tigers are in total control. These last few games will not all be easy for the Tigers, with Georgia and defending BCS Champs Alabama still left on their schedule, the Tigers do have their work cut out for them. So as the Tigers fight to stay in the top, fans will be  glued to their televisions/computers/phones virtually every week to see the fate of the Tigers. As a die-hard college football fan, I personally cannot wait to see how the remainder on the season will play out.
